Meet the Teachers

Marna Getz

Marna completed her 200-hour teaching certification under Yahweh Yoga in 2009, and since then has performed over 1,000 hours of professional yoga instruction, earning Yoga Alliance’s E-RYT credential. 

After establishing her initial certification, Marna co-founded a Christian Yoga studio in Detroit, Michigan, in 2010. The studio was among the first Christian Yoga studios under Yoga Alliance in the U.S. As co-owner, Marna was able to train and mentor other instructors on her staff, both in refining yoga techniques and in nurturing each person’s Christian faith.

Highlights of Marna’s ministry experience includes serving 11 years as a leader in Women’s Ministry at Cross Point Church in Grosse Pointe, Michigan, where she also served as a member of the diaconate. She led Bible Study Fellowship small groups for seven years and facilitated several neighborhood women’s bible studies. Marna lives with her husband in Salt Lake City, and they enjoy four adult children and 15 grandchildren.

Ashley Melichar

Ashley earned her 200-hour instructor certification through Yahweh Yoga in Arizona in 2007, and has been teaching yoga continuously ever since. Ashley first taught on staff at Yahweh Yoga before running her own programs in New York City; Beirut, Lebanon; and Richmond, Virginia. Her practice is informed by her studies in human movement, having achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Dance from Arizona State University and a Master’s Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from the Pratt Institute.

Ashley worked as a certified Dance/Movement Therapist for six years in New York City, using dance, yoga, and movement to guide psychiatric patients toward better psychological, emotional, and cognitive health. In addition to Christian Yoga, Ashley’s ministry experience includes serving as Young Life staff for three years and as a community group leader under Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City for six years. Her current yoga ministry is in Africa, where she lives with her husband and three sons.

Heidi Brown

Heidi earned her 200-hour yoga certification through Yahweh Yoga in Arizona in 2009. Heidi began her yoga teaching program while a student at Indiana University. She continued conducting private training in Michigan, Nashville, and Chicago, including yoga ministries for local church congregations.

Heidi was a yoga instructor at the Brentwood YMCA in Nashville, Tennessee, for five years, during which she has continued to teach uninterrupted through two pregnancies. Heidi is certified in Elementary Education and taught for three years, including physical education incorporating yoga techniques.

Heidi’s ministry experience includes serving as the President of Greek Intervarsity Fellowship at Indiana University, and small group ministry at different congregations. Heidi lives in Salt Lake City with her husband and four children.

Bronwyn Fromm

Bronwyn completed her 200-hour yoga certification through Yahweh Yoga in Arizona in 2009 and has continued her personal practice ever since. Bronwyn’s ministry experience includes youth ministry and overseas missions to Korea and Mongolia under Youth With A Mission.

Bronwyn and her husband have lived in Michigan, Florida, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and now live in Colorado with their five children.  As a family, they enjoy traveling, hiking, and snowboarding. Bronwyn enjoys her personal bible study time, baking, running, interior design, and arts and crafts. Bronwyn’s favorite type of yoga is Power Vinyasa and her favorite pose is exalted warrior. She also loves practicing inversions and arm balances.
